one day, kris turns into a dragon (orig sfn fill)
Their entire apartment is woken by a very loud shriek coming from the room Jongdae and Kris share. Yixing and Lu Han's room is the closest—they stumble in first, Lu Han's arms tangled around Yixing's shoulders, a failed attempt to push hm faster out the door. Yixing is too sleepy to push him off.
When they burst in, nearly tripping over a pile of clothes on the floor, Jongdae is sitting straight up on his bed, pressed against the wall, a look of sheer terror on his face as he points at Kris's bed.
Meanwhile, Kris is nowhere to be seen.
"Snake!" Jongdae yells again. His voice is very shrill. Yixing and Lu Han wince in tandem.
"What snake?" Lu Han says. "Where's duizhang?" Yixing says at the same time.
Jongdae just points at the bed and whimpers.
Obligingly, the two of them troop over, tugging the blankets off and crouching down next to the bed, just as Zitao and Minseok troop in as well. They all stare. Jongdae cowers under his blankets.
"That's not a snake," Yixing says.
"Yeah, it's a snake with legs," Lu Han says, still not entirely awake. "Someone drew a snake with legs!" Yixing smacks him on the head.
"Where's duizhang?" Zitao asks, looking between the snake-with-legs and Jongdae.
Yixing pokes at the lizard, which huffs an indignant puff of steam through his nostrils. Jongdae isn't entirely wrong—with its short, stubby legs sinking into the blankets, it does resemble a snake from a distance. Up close, however, its tiny snout and glowing eyes remind him of something else entirely. He'd watched nezha enough times when he was a kid. Yixing giggles. "Right here," he says. Four pairs of eyes stare at him like he's lost his marbles. He giggles again. "Duizhang is a dragon, right?"
"That's...a dragon?" Minseok says. "I thought dragons were...fire breathing monsters with wings."
The snake-with-legs-that-Yixing-said-was-a-dragon bares his teeth and huffs again. This time, a tiny spout of water hits Yixing in the chest. Yixing pats the dragon on the head. "It's a Chinese dragon!"
"But dragons can fly," Tao says.
Yixing stares at him. "Dragons don't need wings to fly," he says. "Duizhang said he was a dragon too many times so he turned into one!"
"But duizhang is from Canada..." Lu Han says doubtfully. "Shouldn't he turn into a Canadian dragon?"
Yixing smacks him on the head again. This time, Lu Han shoves him over onto the floor. "He's still Chinese," Yixing says. "Of course he'd turn into a Chinese dragon. And he's twenty one, so that's a baby in dragon years!"
While Jongdae summons up enough courage to creep across the room, Minseok shakes his head and turns to walk out the door. He has a feeling all of Kris's baby sitting duties just landed on his head. Oh, and he should ask the manager hyungdeul if they have any secret antidotes for a bad case of dragonitis while he's at it. ...although, if Yixing is right, Chinese dragonitis.
At least they just had practice today. Not that, Minseok muses, a dragon can dance.
