yixing grins and wu fan has learned to keep a straight face. why yes i am out of fandom why do you ask >:
There's about three seconds of silence after the camera and music switch off before a chuckle of laughter wells up in the practice room, Lu Han taking one look at the wry grin on Yixing's face and dissolving into giggles. "I saw that!" he blurts out between breathless snickers, and there's a flicker of confusion on Minseok and Jongdae's faces before comprehension dawns—even though they're a Chinese subgroup, Lu Han should have been speaking Korean at that moment. It throws them off that he hadn't bothered.
"Stop it," Yixing says, rolling his shoulders back. Wu Fan seems to be resisting the urge to bury his face in his hands—he does it anyway.
Zitao flops listlessly onto the practice room floor, leaning back on his elbows as he glances up at his bandmates. "It's better than the time when Wu Fan ge bowled you over," he deadpans, and Wu Fan winces at the memory. That had been their third take for this video, and it had been Lu Han's fault, really.
"Don't worry ge," Jongdae says, the syllable still sharp on his tongue. He grins good naturedly. "At least you didn't kick him and fall on top of him." Take four, the mid-air collision that had caused groans all around—but mostly because they were sure it was going to go right that time.
Minseok tosses his cap at Jongdae's face, rolling his eyes. "I lost my balance once."
"I know, hyung!" But that doesn't stop Jongdae from laughing anyway.
Yixing joins the others on the floor, tugging his cap down over his eyes as he crosses his legs. Beside him, he hears Wu Fan sit as well, while Lu Han opts to lean against the wall for a few seconds before heaving a great sigh and sprawling across the floor on his stomach. Six takes in on a dance they've supposedly already perfected, and they seem to have reached a unanimous decision that it's a wrap. The other group had managed it in two.
Unexpectedly, there's an arm around his shoulders. "Just don't do that on stage, hm?" Wu Fan says, giving him a good natured shake.
"Just don't fall on stage," Lu Han comments, but there's a grin that takes out any bite from his words.
Wu Fan grimaces. "I don't fall."
"You just look like you're about to," Zitao snorts.
"You know, since you do wushu, I used to think you'd have better control over your limbs," Yixing muses thoughtfully, eyes dancing as he regards the younger boy. Zitao puffs up for a few seconds, arms crossed over his chest, but deflates just as suddenly.
"Don't compare people to you," he complains.
"Hey, I'm supposed to be a vocal," Lu Han points out. Jongdae cuts in with a whine at this point, complaining that they're speaking too fast for him to understand. Zitao just shoots a toothy grin at him and tells him to get used to it, because that's what it'll be like sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. There's a lull in the conversation in which Yixing's heart seems to expand through his chest and into his throat—sooner, rather than later, he hopes, and it's only when Wu Fan stands, urging them all to their feet does it occur to him to glance at the others, only to see the same anticipation mirrored on their features. To his left, the mirror shows the same on his own.
"Break's over, we have things to do," Wu Fan is saying. Zitao has an arm around Wu Fan's shoulder, as if flaunting his extra inches in their faces. Minseok rolls his eyes and does the same with Jongdae, except it doesn't have quite the same effect. Lu Han opts to latch onto Yixing's back instead, hitching a piggy-back ride.
"Did you gain weight?" Yixing asks. He just laughs when Lu Han slaps him on the arm.
